Welcome to "Adventures in Lead", a blog dedicated to the hobby of miniature wargaming. The figures and terrain on this site are mainly for a campaign set in exotic "Indostan", a distant land bearing remarkable similarities to 18th century India during the Seven Years War. Bits and pieces from other projects may pop up here as well from time to time, including colonials, gladiators, pirates, dinosaur-hunting and even some RPG'ing.
The actual campaign journal and after action reports for the Indostan campaign can be found on their own blog - "Indostan: The Jewel in the Crown", the link to which is found by clicking the small image below-left.

WIP - Palanquin (sedan chair)

Here's a little piece I've been dreaming up for a while now and started construction last night. It's a palanquin (also known as a palki in India) or sedan chair to carry VIPs around in. It will hopefully serve as a scenario goal in something like "escort the so and so from here to here" games. The biggest challenge will be mounting the whole affair. I detest large square bases, so will have to come up with something else. I also like to keep things as variable as possible, so the occupant will be removable and alternatively a set of drawn curtains  will be able to be put in place. (Click the images to enlarge)

  1. Nice!

How about a sort of oblong base? Or round-cornered rectangle base? I make bases for my cavalry by gluing 2 washers end to end on a piece of plastic and then cutting straight along the sides to connect the 2 washers. Could do that with large enough washers or round bases. Or maybe just put the 2 sets of bearers each on their own round base?

  2. nice idea, where are the figs from?

    Is the Palanquin removable?

what about two bases one for the front pair and one for the rear, possibly use FOW inf bases.

  3. I've been really slack with this one! I have actually already based the pairs like you have said, just haven't taken any pictures.
The palanquin is still removable, but I'm having serious issues with decorating it. At the moment it's just a red box.
The figures are all Foundry from their Indian Mutiny range, the carriers are from their "Doolie" set and the occupant from their Maharajah's Elephant set.
